April is Alcohol Awareness Month!
Alcohol Awareness Month is a great opportunity to update your knowledge about alcohol, alcohol use disorder, and their impacts on health and society. Alcohol-related problems continue to exact an immense toll on individuals, families, and communities. In the United States, more than 140,000 people per year die from alcohol misuse, making it one of the leading causes of preventable deaths. Alcohol misuse is linked to more than 200 disease and injury-related conditions, meaning alcohol misuse contributes substantially to health care costs and lost productivity and affects people’s health in ways that they may not realize. Alcohol misuse can also have painful emotional impacts on individuals and their loved ones.

The HQIC Reliability and Resilience Learning Action Series is designed to educate and activate hospital leaders on the concepts and practices of resilience and high reliability in healthcare.
Learning sessions will be focused across three concentrations:
  1. Foundational knowledge about the concepts, theories, and activities related to resilience and reliability
  2. Examples of practical application of resilience and reliability activities at scale
  3. Stories from the field: Hospital case studies of reliability and resilience in action at the local level

Violence against healthcare workers continues to rise and hospital leaders are seeking strategies to enhance workplace safety while upholding patient care standards. According to data gathered in 2023 by National Nurses United (NNU), 81.6% of nurses reported that they have experienced workplace violence, with half stating they have seen instances of violence increase in the last year.

Join us for Part 4 of the HQIC Workplace Violence (WPV) Prevention webinar series. This dynamic session will feature sharing of real-world experiences and promising WPV prevention practices from healthcare leaders in diverse roles at a rural hospital, community hospital and an urban health system.
