KHC’s featured topic in August will be devoted to the CMS Appropriate Use Criteria Program which will be effective January 1, 2021. Under this program, at the time a practitioner orders an advanced diagnostic imaging service for a Medicare beneficiary, he or she or clinical staff acting under his/her direction, will be required to consult a qualified Clinical Decision Support Mechanism (CDSM). Examples of such advanced imaging services include CT, PET, Nuclear Medicine, and MRI.
Guest presenters from the American College of Radiology will be Christine Waldrip, RN, MHA, Director of Appropriateness Criteria; and Kathryn (Katie) Keysor, Senior Director of Economics & Health Policy.
Christine and Katie will provide an overview of CMS Appropriate Use Criteria Program, ACR Appropriateness Criteria, clinical decision support mechanisms, the responsibilities of ordering physicians, information to be relayed between clinicians, and recommendations for successful partnering across the continuum of care.
KHC virtual meetings provide an opportunity to connect with your Kansas peers in leading health care quality, as well as to stay in the know about resources and opportunities in quality and patient safety.
