Join us for our first webinar of 2018 on the Quality Payment Program. We will review the Quality Category in general, highlighting changes for Year 2. We also will take a closer look at moving beyond just capturing data, going over initial steps you can use in your practice to drive quality improvement.

The live webinar is limited to 100 participants.  This session will be recorded for future viewing.

 

Presenter:  Dr. Patricia Meier currently serves as Chief Medical Officer for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Region VII, which includes Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. In her current position, Dr. Meier brings her clinical experience to the regional CMS programs and divisions. She serves as the medical lead for quality improvement initiatives and a liaison with healthcare providers in her region. Dr. Meier is a board-certified physician in Pathology, Infectious Diseases, and Internal Medicine.  She graduated from the University of Kansas Medical School, after which she completed residencies in internal medicine and pathology with fellowships in infectious diseases and hospital epidemiology. In addition to her previous clinical practice, she has held medical director responsibilities in both hospital and outpatient laboratories. She holds a M.Sc. in Preventive Medicine and recently completed an executive MBA program.

KHC HIIN Wound Assessment Seminar

From the novice to the well-seasoned veteran, this 1.5-day Wound Assessment Seminar for hospitals in the KHC Hospital Improvement Innovation Network will advance clinical skills and knowledge for front-line health care professionals.

Day 1 will provide a step-by-step approach for conducting the perfect wound assessment.  This includes tissue types, wound etiologies and pressure ulcer staging.  Day 2 will introduce new international pressure ulcer guidelines and recommendations for pressure ulcer prevention and treatment, including the “how to” for implementing guidelines within your facility.

Training will be provided by The Wound Care Education Institute (WCEI®).  WCEI educational programs include comprehensive courses in skin and wound management, diabetic wound management and ostomy management.  Continuing education programs offered through webinars, seminars and national conference support the standards of care necessary for improved patient outcomes.

Continuing education will be available for nurses, physical therapists and occupational therapists.

Kansas hospitals participating in the KHC Hospital Improvement Innovation Network will come together for a virtual meeting on February 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. CT.

Participants will explore approaches to developing patient and family advisory programs for their hospitals.  Allison Chrestensen, principal patient and family engagement consultant, Tandem Healthcare Solutions, will discuss concepts related to culture, leadership and resources, as well as share information about the 2018 break-through Collaborative now starting through the KHC HIIN.

KHC Leadership in Quality Award - Call for Nominations

We invite you to submit nominations to the 2018 KHC Leadership in Quality Award, presented by the Kansas Healthcare Collaborative.

The 10th annual KHC Leadership in Quality Award will be presented at the 2018 Summit on Quality, May 4 in Wichita. The nomination deadline is Friday, January 5, 2018.

All Kansas health care providers and organizations are eligible for the KHC Leadership in Quality Award.

The award is presented annually to recognize leadership and innovation in quality improvement and patient safety.

$5,000 will be presented to the grand prize winner, thanks to the generous sponsorship of KaMMCO (Kansas Medical Mutual Insurance Company) Foundation. Our partner, the KaMMCO Foundation, is an ardent supporter of initiatives that improve patient safety, reduce risk of harm and focus on the patient as the center of care.
