Topic:  Using ICAR/PCA results to tailor each hospital’s educational experience

Onboarding 2 is designed to help participants understand the CDC’s ICAR approach to infection prevention and how this assessment along with tracking outcome and process data can be used to drive change.

Transforming Cultures for Safety

Effective communication is essential for a culture of safety.  Hospitals in the KHC HIIN are invited to join your peers regionally as we hear an informative overview of best practice from Betsy Lee, MSPH, BSN, RN, a Culture of Safety content expert from Cynosure Health.  We also will learn implementation strategies from two very different organizations in Texas, one a small rural hospital and the other a large five-hospital system. Specific practices will include: Bedside Report, Safety Huddles and more!

KHC HIIN Webinar - June 28, 2017

Kansas hospitals participating in the KHC Hospital Improvement Innovation Network will come together for a virtual meeting on June 28 at 10:00 a.m. CT.  This month’s webinar will feature peer-to-peer sharing by Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, a 47-bed non-profit hospital in southeast Kansas.  Abby Lickteig, quality improvement nurse, will share insights to their award-winning quality program, plus share their new “GEMBA” dashboards that appear to be successful in driving change within their organization.

In addition, KHC staff will provide HIIN program updates, updates on the hospital HIIN data reports and current progress toward HIIN goals.  We hope you will join us!

HRET HIINovation Roadshow - November 14, 2017

The HRET HIINovation Roadshow will bring a day-long workshop with national faculty to central Kansas!  

This workshop, conducted by the Health Research & Educational Trust, will be customized to meet the needs of hospitals participating in the KHC Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN).  It will be highly interactive and focused on experiential learning. 

Attendees will have ample opportunity for peer-to-peer sharing and developing skills that can be applied to on-going improvement projects, with the goal of reducing all-cause in-patient harm.

Featured topics will include:

  • Community Collaboration to Reduce Readmissions and Beyond
  • Exploration of  Equity as a foundational component of your quality and patient safety strategy

Topic:  Team formation – engaging and leading team members

Onboarding 4 discusses the necessity of having multidisciplinary teams lead infection prevention initiatives, as one individual or department cannot do the work alone. This webinar will share how to apply team-building principles, recommend individuals to include on the core implementation team and identify how state organizations can be partners in infection prevention.

The South Central HIINergy Partners is a group of six geographically proximal state hospital associations (Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas).  We have partnered together to create synergy and an enriched virtual learning experience for our participating HRET HIIN hospitals. 

We are working together with shared aims in achieving a 20 percent reduction in all-cause harms and a 12 percent reduction in all-cause readmissions.

The regional South Central HIINergy Partners events will take place bi-monthly on the fourth Wednesday of each month (January through September) 2017.

The Kansas PTN Annual Learning Event is available at no charge for participating practices of Kansas PTN and has been approved for Continuing Education Credits. We welcome all members of the health care team eager to focus on the quality of care their organization provides to patients.  This may include providers, nurses, group practice administrators, practice managers, quality improvement managers, and information and technology support staff.

The event features practice transformation stories from local Kansas practices, including Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, WesleyCare Family Medicine, and Family Health Care Clinic of Lindsborg.

Special presentations will be hosted by Tom Evans, MD, President and CEO, Compass Practice Transformation Network; Justin Moore, MD, Health ICT; Patricia Meier, MD Regional Director, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services; and Kady Reese, MPH, CPHQ, Compass Practice Transformation Network. Additional presentations will feature Eric Cook-Wiens, Data and Measurement Manager, Kansas Healthcare Collaborative; and KHC's team of Quality Improvement Advisors.

Lunch is included with your registration.

Kansas PFAC Collaborative Training Session #3 - September 11, 2017
